What is Queer Tango?
Argentine Tango that encourages gender complexity and exploration. It is a friendly environment for GLBT dancers, women leaders, men followers, and anyone who wants to experiment with gender roles in the dance.

Queer Tango or same sex tango dancing, started in Buenos Aires home of the first Queer Tango Festival. Queer Tango is rapidly spreading around the world to places like Stockholm, London, New York, Boston, San Franciso, and now San Diego!

Queer Tango San Diego promotes open minded same sex dancing in the San Diego Area.

What is Argentine Tango?
Tango is part Tango is a sensual dramatic dance. Tango emerged as a dance style in the late 1800s in the suburbs of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, Uruguay. It is popular in Europe, Japan and the United States. The recent spike in tango's popularity throughout the world is in part attributed to the Broadway hit "Forever Tango" and TV's "Dancing With the Stars." "Tango is a feeling that can be danced, and that feeling of course is passion," according to some.

The popular image – willowy, spike-heeled women spinning, kicking and lunging across the floor in the arms of tuxedo-clad men – is known as show tango. The kind danced in milongas, or tango dance halls, is more waltzlike, but equally sensual.
